As a small business owner, it is an honor to give back to the community that gives us so much. As such, I pay my two employees their full salary to volunteer locally, up to 40 hours per year. This is a part of the employee volunteer program that I decided to start as a part of my business. I think that it is important to share what skills and knowledge we have been given and I am so excited to see them working with others.
First assistant Draper White tutors middle school students in Photoshop and digital photography. I am also a weekly literacy volunteer at Carbondale Elementary School, and lecture at local schools. We both love sharing our photography based knowledge and teaching at these schools is often a highlight.
I am also working on an exciting video project for the orphan-empowerment agency Wide Horizons For Children. This organization does some great work, and I have shot video projects for them in both Ethiopia and Guatemala.
Finally, our studio contributes numerous framed print to charitable fundraisers.
If you would like to work with us on a volunteer project, please contact my studio! I make it a point to complete at least one pro-bono photo or video project every year, and I often get the help of other studios, retouchers, and media companies to help out with our final product. It would be great to help anyone out through our employee volunteer program!
