I’m excited to share a new nonprofit campaign I directed that was a true labor of love. These two commercials feature the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program — volunteers who work with abused and neglected children as they navigate the foster care system.

Coincidentally, I have worked with kids in the foster care system as a CASA volunteer for two years. The role has called me to the highest ideals of compassion and heartfelt activism. As a father of two myself, I know what it’s like to want to protect children from the hardships of the world, and CASA does wonderful work helping children find stability in the uncertainty of the foster care system. My goal was to reflect that in these TV spots, which portray what it’s like for a child bouncing between foster homes, and how a caring CASA volunteer can make a big difference.

As a director on this project, one of the joys was working with the child actors. They were so talented; and, as with all film projects with kids, we just had to keep in mind their short attention spans!

Given my personal connection to the CASA program, it was pure serendipity that I was asked to direct this project with R&R Partners ad agency and Cosmic Pictures production company. Many thanks for the opportunity!
