One of the highlights for me each year is leading Canon Photo Workshops, as it gives me a chance to connect with fellow photographers in some of the country’s most beautiful locations. The workshops are limited to 16 students, which allows me and the two accompanying Canon pro staff plenty of opportunities for personal attention and mentoring.
This fall I will be offering Canon Photo Workshops in Aspen, Colorado that focuses on “Mountain Light: The Art of Dramatic Landscape and Action Photography,” and one in Moab, Utah: “Capturing the Magnificent West: Arches and Cowboys.”
“Mountain Light: The Art of Dramatic Landscape and Action Photography” in Aspen, CO
Dates: September 30th – October 1st, 2015.
For the two-day Canon Photo Workshop in Aspen, we will immerse ourselves in the mystical Maroon Bells mountains at the height of fall foliage, focusing on capturing breathtaking landscapes and fine-art imagery. The aspen trees are in full yellow and orange regalia during this week, and often the first mountain snows are dusting the upper reaches of the 14,000-foot Maroon Bells. We will also photograph cowboys and cowgirls on horseback, capturing high-action images and environmental portraits. This is a great workshop to master both landscapes and environmental portraits. This is my favorite time of year in Aspen, and I look forward to sharing in the beauty with you!

“Capturing the Magnificent West: Arches and Cowboys” in Moab, UT
Dates: October 15th – October 17th, 2015
During the three-day Moab workshop we will explore the magnificent sandstone arches and towers of Arches National Park, learning ways to capture the stunning landscape. We will also have a nighttime shoot where we will practice light painting and capturing starscapes under the arches. On the second day we will venture to the magical Fisher Towers and capture landscapes and rock climbers, practicing both sports photography and environmental portraiture. Finally, on the third day, we will shoot action scenes and portraits with authentic cowboys wrangling horses and cattle.
